Austin S. Harris is an LA-based TV writer, director, and comedian. He is an alumnus of the Disney General Entertainment Writing Program, has written for TV shows like HBO’s I LOVE LA and Hulu’s HOW I MET YOUR FATHER, and was named a Just For Laughs New Face: Writer in 2026.
Austin was born and raised in Willingboro, NJ, where he grew up working at his family’s Rita’s Italian Ice store (yes, he’s certified to make the ice). After graduating from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Austin worked for the ABC News program 20/20, where he was an executive assistant to two news anchors, traveled to various “scenes of the crime,” and provided voiceover for the show (usually as a murderer).
Austin has written and directed several projects, including STEVIE’S ALIENS, an award-winning sci-fi short film that pays tribute to the eighties Amblin films that inspired Austin to pursue filmmaking. For his work on the film, Austin was profiled by SYFY Wire. He has also written for The Huffington Post, the Wondery podcast BLACK HISTORY, FOR REAL, and co-wrote the 2026 Disney Talent Discovers Showcase pilot. Outside of writing, directing, and performing stand-up around LA, Austin is an avid theme park enthusiast who worked as a tram guide on the World Famous Studio Tour at Universal Studios Hollywood (yes, tram guides are real people; no, they do not drive the tram).
